A small group of dedicated Cornerstone (then Carmel Lutheran) disciples had a vision 25 years ago to offer a faith-based arts camp hosted at our church. Since then, this unique ministry has blossomed to serve thousands of children in the Carmel and greater Indianapolis communities. The program continues to evolve over the years, but is still rooted in the same vision Jan Williams brought to life in 2001—bringing children and teachers
together to use and develop the special gifts the Lord has provided them in music and fine arts.
This year’s theme, “God is Good,” was chosen in part to celebrate this milestone. From June 15-19, the campers studied the Psalms and learned about the different types, like Psalms of Ascent, Wisdom, Lament, and Thanksgiving. Their theme classes and art and music electives also emphasized those lessons.
Students celebrated the end of the camp by displaying their visual art pieces and performing with their various groups (like dance, drama, drums, harp, choir, and more). Thank you for a memorable 25th anniversary celebration of Fine Arts Academy.
