Advent Together

We have learned so much about separation in the last almost two years. We saw long-standing traditions stopped, some for good, some we lament. We also learned how much we yearn to be together.

If anyone understands separation, it’s God. The people that He designed and created to share in His love have repeatedly broken the relationship. There was only one way to bring us together again, by sending Jesus.

Through our Advent theme of “Together”, we’ll learn together how Jesus has come to bring us closer to God. Because of Jesus, we live together in love forever. "How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!" - Psalm 133:1

Weekend Advent Themes

  • Advent 1 (Nov. 27-28): Broken Together” (1 Thess. 3:9–13) – We are surrounded by relationships that are broken: marriages, friendships, working relationships. Sometimes this makes people dread gatherings around Christmastime. Truthfully, we are all broken. The forgiveness of Jesus binds us to the Father, and also lays the foundation to right the wrongs in the relationships we experience.
  • Advent 2 (Dec. 4-5): “Together  the Wrong Way” (1 Corinthians 15:33-34) – It is possible to be together but in an unhealthy way. There is more to togetherness than mere agreement. What is the basis of your closest relationships? Are there some that need to change? This can be a time of renewal.
  • Advent 3 (Dec 11-12): “Together as One” (John 17:20-23) – God brings us together so that we will never be alone. We are united together in His promises, faith, hope, and love. While the Christmas holiday binds us together, the purpose behind Christmas binds us even more!
  • Advent 4 (Dec 18-19): “Celebrating Together” (Luke 1:39-45) – As we express our Christmas traditions, we are called to invite others in. Christmas is an open door to share the love of God in Jesus Christ.
  • Christmas Eve: “Together in Love” (Matt. 1:18-25) – We gather for Christmas Eve worship for all kinds of reasons. No matter the reason, we are gathered together and surrounded by the love that “came down at Christmas.” You can have one night of love, that Christmas Eve Worship warm feeling, and/or you can enjoy a lifetime of love from Jesus.
