This past Sunday, we highlighted the important work of Lutheran Child and Family Services as they care for children and young adults in our community. There are several ways you can be involved–here are some specific opportunities throughout the summer:
1) Tutoring – Mon-Fri 9:30-10:45 a.m.
You would be working in a room with Ms Julie Handschy, their lead school administrator, as the residents are working on some online courses. Each center/dorm will be assigned one of those days. You could come every day, once a week, or a few times during the summer, whichever works best for you!
2) Sports Program – Tues/Thurs, 9:15-10:45 a.m.
You will be working with other volunteers, some of whom have been working on this program throughout the school year. It will develop as the team sees fit (once the team is established). You would see each group of kids once a week for a 45-minute session. We need three people for each session, so if we have about 8-10 of you willing to commit to some participation, we could keep a schedule without burnout for any of you.
3) Adopt-A-Dorm for the Boys – Wed 6-7:30 p.m.
Currently, this meets every other Wednesday evening. We would like to find at least 2 more people to work with this group of boys on a regular basis. If you are interested in this, but Wednesdays do not work, please still let me know and we might be able to re-arrange!
