Support

Life is full of joy, but we know that it also has its share of hurts. At Cornerstone Lutheran Church, we have a heart for loving people through their pain, whether they are in our church or our community. Hope can be found in support groups like GriefShare, DivorceCare for Kids (DC4K), caregivers, employment needs, or for those with disabilities. And, support can also be found in creating homemade comfort shawls for those in need. Find out more, below.

Our pastors want you to know that you can always contact them if you are in need of pastoral care. If you need to contact a pastor for an after-hours emergency, call 317-814-4252 follow the prompts.

Sometimes however, the help that you need goes beyond what our pastors can provide. So, we also want to provide you with a list of resources — places that you can contact to ask for help.

Don’t go through your hardships alone. Reach out and find the help that you need. We care about YOU!

Friendship Saturday

First Saturday of the Month (October – May)
9 AM – 1 PM
CLC Carmel, room 123

Friendship Saturday is a day of fun for developmentally challenged adults (and a day of respite for those who care for them). We welcome needs helpers (14 years old and up) for their games, crafts, Bible studies, and play time. You’ll get the chance to share the love of Jesus with these wonderful friends while experiencing fun, laughter, friendship, love, AND a free lunch!

In addition, this group seeks groups/families throughout the year that are willing to make lunch for our Friends–usually for 20-25 people. Meals can be simple! It’s a great and fun way for your small group or family to serve the church.

For more information on attending, volunteering, or serving a meal, please email connect@cornerstonelutheran.church.

Our knitting/crocheting group makes comfort shawls for local cancer patients and others needing a little bit of comfort. If you know how to knit or crochet, or would like to learn, then join us every Monday night, from 7-8:30 pm, in the Carmel Seniors Lounge, as we have fun making them together! Bring a friend! We do have some yarn and knitting needles/crochet hooks, but if you have your own items, please bring them. Questions? Contact Robin Wong or Cindy Koelsch by emailing connect@cornerstonelutheran.church

Comfort Dog

Cornerstone Lutheran Church in Central Indiana is an Affiliate in the K9 Comfort Dog Ministry of Lutheran Church Charities (LCC). The K-9 Comfort Dog Ministry is a national human-care ministry that embraces the unique, calming nature and skills of purebred Golden Retrievers to interact with people of all ages and circumstances who are suffering and in need. Comfort Dogs serve every day in their community and are also deployed in times of disaster and crisis to bring comfort to all those affected, including first responders and the volunteers who serve them. They serve as a bridge for ministry and outreach. Comfort Dogs calm people, demonstrating unconditional love and are taught to be passive and gentle when working with people which makes them an effective comforter because they help people to feel safe. Their simple presence is calming and healing and encourages people to talk about their distress and begin the healing process.
