It was another busy week at Cornerstone! The week started off with the Christmas Store, located in the Cornerstone Indy Gym. The Christmas Store was in partnership with Lutheran Child and Family Services, Cornerstone, and various other area churches. In total, the Christmas Store helped 188 families shop for Christmas gifts. In other words, more than 600 kids were able to receive Christmas presents from their parents! Families who shopped at the Christmas Store were referred by LCFS, and all toys were new and in their original packaging, donated by Cornerstone and other local churches. We thank the countless volunteers who donated their time and resources, and to all those who donated toys to the Christmas Store. Thanks to you, hundreds of kids in the greater Indianapolis area will have toys to unwrap Christmas morning.

On Saturday, December 13, Cornerstone Indy hosted its fifth annual “Breakfast With Santa,” an event that allows Cornerstone to connect with the local community through a warm meal and festive holiday activities. This year, the event also doubled as the grand re-opening of the Cornerstone Indy Play Area. The Play Area has been closed for months for renovations, including new gym flooring and new play area equipment. Together with ministry staff, there was a “Blessing of the Bars,” where we prayed over the newly refurbished Play Area, and that it be a blessing to the community. The Cornerstone Indy Play Area is officially open and operational on Tuesday and Thursdays from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. Those interested in volunteering at the Play Area can CLICK HERE.

Also on December 13, Cornerstone Carmel had its annual “Journey to Bethlehem” event. During the event, families had a pancake breakfast and heard the Christmas story. They then explored the town of Bethlehem, including visits to the Spice Shop, the Pottery Shop, Carpentry, and Market. They also were able to participate in a service project for our community, making warmth bags for those in need, which connected to our Christmas theme of “Giving Christmas Away.” Thanks to all those who participated and gave of their time to volunteer on a snowy morning!
