Here at Cornerstone Lutheran Church, we believe that when we act together, God can do amazing things through His people. In fact, “together” is in our DNA. Working together has informed our mission, vision, and identity here at Cornerstone.
Our church and surrounding communities might have changed since our start in 1976, but our mission to reach and care for our neighbors has stayed the same. We’ve expanded to four sites, welcomed hundreds of new disciples, and widened our footprint in the community. With almost 50 years under our belt, the church must meet the needs of our growing ministry, and make necessary renovations to account for five decades of change.
This is an exciting time for us to move forward in the mission that has been placed before us, and God’s family here at Cornerstone has always been generous and dedicated to His plan. Scroll through this page to learn more about the mission and vision of this campaign, and I hope you join us as we move Forward Together.

FAQS
How long do I have to fulfill my commitment?
There were different start times for everyone who pledged to the campaign, so we know that everyone will finish fulfilling their pledges differently. Our target is the end of 2028 so that we can celebrate together!
Does it matter when in the five years I give my funds?
Nope! But, the sooner we receive the funds, the sooner we can get the projects accomplished and enjoy their benefits!
Can I donate assets other than cash?
Absolutely! You can also donate appreciated assets, securities or bequests. Additionally, your employer may offer a charitable match to enhance your gift. Reach out to Craig Huffman, our Chief Operating Officer, for guidance.
Who can I contact with questions?
For inquiries, please reach out to info@cornerstonelutheran.church and we will make sure that your question gets answered by the appropriate person.
What if we don’t raise enough money?
We will celebrate all contributions and efforts. Each pledge, regardless of size, is a blessing to the church and our ministry. As a part of the ongoing planning, we are making sure to be as economical as possible to keep costs down. That said, there are parts of each of the projects that will have to be scaled down if we do not reach our goal.
I’ve given to a capital campaign before. Why should I give again?
Great question! Since you have given to a previous campaign, you know the amazing results of God’s people working generously together. When God Opens Doors allowed for the expansion of the Carmel site, Hearts Compelled to Share allowed us to build the site in Fishers. Giving to this capital campaign will help fulfill major growth needs within the church, and will increase our gospel impact within our church and surrounding community.
How soon will I start seeing my pledge in action?
There are multiple ways to answer this question:
1) Some projects have started thanks to funds already received. HVAC units have been ordered for Carmel. Work has begun in Indy on the gym, play area and kitchen. We have made two significant payments on our current debt. Funds are being put to their intended good use!
2) The Child Development Center in Fishers will require a congregational vote to move forward. Plans and costs are currently being sorted out and designed. We will vote to move forward at our November congregational meeting.
3) Plans for renovations to the worship center in Carmel are in the preliminary phase and will require more pricing and bidding to begin.
4) As projects are funded and began, they will be shared. Check this webpage often for updates!
How did these projects get picked?
In 2023, we had a series of congregational forums during which different options for the campaign were considered. Based on the feedback from these gatherings, three projects emerged: Renovations at all sites, a child development center to address space issues in Fishers, and debt reduction. There are many other things we will continue to do as a congregation as God allows but these are the things in focus for Forward Together.
