Kim Halamka joined Cornerstone Lutheran Church in June 2025 as our Finance Manager. Prior to working at Cornerstone, she worked for the State of Indiana. In her new role, she’ll work closely in human resources and accounts payable. Here’s a Q&A to get to know her better.
What do you do at Cornerstone Lutheran?
I am still learning everything the job entails. The financial manager tracks contributions, processes payroll, and handles human resources and benefits. I also am part of the accounts payable and budgeting process.
What is a favorite Bible verse of yours?
There are so many wonderful verses to choose from! Isaiah 53, especially verse 5, is a favorite: “But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities: the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.” This verse tells us not only that “God so loved the world that he gave his only Son”, but what the cost was that was paid for our salvation.
Tell a little about your family.
My husband David and I were married at Carmel in 1996 and attended Fishers Mission, which became Family of Christ (in the late 1990’s/early 2000’s), until it closed. We have been disciples at CLC since then, which is probably about 14 years. All three of our kids–Jared, Jessica, and Joshua–were confirmed at Carmel. Jared and our daughter-in-law, Taylor, were also married at Carmel, and our grandson, Michael, was recently baptized at Carmel.
What do you like about working here?
I have only been here a little over a month, but what I like best (other than the shorter commute) is the supportive atmosphere and the ultimate goal of sharing the gospel and making disciples. It’s refreshing to be working with other believers and to be able to talk about Jesus freely.
What’s playing in your car right now?
I usually listen to podcasts when I drive, specifically The World and Everything In It, but now that I have a new subscription to SiriusXM, I have been experimenting with various stations as well.
What do you like to do to unwind?
David and I typically go for walks in the evenings. This started when we had our dog. We are also guilty of binge-watching shows that are probably not worth the time.
