When our neighbors hurt, we show up. In the aftermath of the recent flooding in the Ravenswood area, west of 75th & Keystone, Cornerstone disciples answered the call to be the hands and feet of Jesus—literally.
Serving Together, Making a Difference
Our Comfort Dog Ministry Team was among the first groups on-site in Ravenswood, offering compassion, encouragement, and practical care to residents facing a difficult recovery. Cornerstone disciples also stepped up in meaningful ways, helping clean out flooded homes, deliver meals and supplies door-to-door, and connect residents with the resources they needed. We were especially encouraged to see disciples bring their workplaces and community connections into the response—creating even more opportunities to serve. For example, one of our disciples, a manager at the now-flooded Martin Marietta quarry at 96th and Hazel Dell, sent his drivers to help with the cleanup efforts when he received our request for help.
This is what it looks like to live out our mission: loving our neighbors not just with words, but through our presence, our hands, and our willingness to help.
