On July 17-19, ten Comfort Dog teams across four states gathered together at Cornerstone Fishers for the LCC Comfort Dogs Central Region Conference.
More than 40 attendees from Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, and New York came together to worship, train, and equip each other to share Jesus’ love and compassion. Teams included Eternity Comfort Dog, Magdalene Comfort Dog, Honey Comfort Dog, Jared Comfort Dog, Claudia Comfort Dog, Lazarus Comfort Dog, Dove Comfort Dog and Teams in Process from Louisville, KY, Columbus, OH, and Tonawanda, NY. As well as Comfort Dogs in Training Blessed Comfort Dog and Forgive Comfort Dog.
Their time together included breakout sessions for those involved in this Ministry. They shared ideas on team leadership, continued to develop their handling skills with the dogs, and advanced their skills on building relationships. Rachel Reames, a Foster Care Advocate from Josiah White’s, spoke to those in attendance about their relationship with Cornerstone’s Teams Magdalene and Eternity, who have worked together with Josiah White’s for 4 years supporting foster families. Rachel shared the impact they have made on both the foster families and the staff, and the relationships they have built.
The Comfort Dog teams then welcomed families to Cornerstone for a morning of play, creativity, and connection. There was an overwhelming sense of joy and love throughout the room. Watching the teams and families share smiles and meaningful moments together was truly special!
