Now through August 13, Pastor Scott will embark on a summer sabbatical centered on renewal, reflection, and rediscovery. During this time, he and his family will travel across the country and Canada by RV, visiting a variety of churches and ministries to learn what inspires and sustains their work.
Accompanying him on the journey will be his wife, Kate, and their sons, Andrew and Micah. Andrew, who is currently preparing for ministry, and Micah, who shares a strong interest in ministry, will actively participate in the experience. Together, the family will document their visits through a video podcast format, capturing interviews with ministry leaders and highlighting the unique ways each ministry lives out its mission.
In addition, Pastor Scott and Andrew will reflect on what they observe and share in the videos how these experiences shape their understanding of ministry and the local church. These video updates will be shared with the congregation through Tuesday’s eNews, allowing us to follow along on their journey.
Pastor Scott’s goals for his sabbatical include providing rest and renewal for him and his family, fostering staff leadership growth at Cornerstone, encouraging the ministries they visit, and deepening both a love for the local church and for family life.
As his sabbatical unfolds, it is hoped that the journey will not only renew Pastor Scott and his family, but also inspire the broader church community to reflect on its own calling—remembering and returning to its first love with renewed passion and purpose. Please pray for the Gigers that God blesses them during this exciting adventure!
Be sure to keep a lookout to future eNews editions for vlogs about their travels!
While Pastor Scott is away, disciples with pastoral questions or concerns are encouraged to reach out to their site pastor as usual. Pastor Kevin will serve as Interim Senior Pastor and is available for support during this time.
