October's Collection: Non-perishable food

The last few years have seen a large increase in the cost of living, especially hard for those subsisting on meager budgets without flexibility to adjust spending away from other necessities and toward food. This month’s collection has two categories. Your donations can be dropped off at any site.

1) Area food pantries

Please bring non-perishable food items, both small and large, for distribution to local food pantries.

2) CLC Indy Site Little Pantry

The walk-up Little Pantry that serves the CLC Indy site neighborhood has been successful, but volume of donated food supplies in the storeroom varies. Please mark these donations “INDY” so we get it to the right place. For this category, we’re looking for:

  • Canned fruit/fruit cups with easy-to-remove lids
  • Canned pasta meals or pasta cups (SpaghettiOs, mac & cheese, etc.) — with easy-to-remove lids (Please do not donate mac & cheese boxes that need milk & butter to prepare. Also, no Ramen Noodles, as we have plenty.)
  • Granola bars, Pop-Tarts, crackers
  • Single-serve packages of cereal
  • Pudding cups
  • Spam, tuna, canned meats, canned stew
  • Peanut butter or any nut butters

Or, if you want to shop from home, we have created an Amazon wish list with food items that can be delivered directly to the Indy site! Go to our website and search “Indy Food Pantry” for the Amazon link. Or, if reading this online, CLICK HERE to access this wish list. Enter the shipping address as 2837 E. New York St., Indianapolis IN, 46201. Thank you for your support!
