September Collection: Warm Things!

In Matthew 25, Jesus urged us to take care of “the least of these,” including strangers and the needy. Because of Him, all four worship sites of Cornerstone Lutheran Church continue to reach out and care for our neighbors in Hamilton, Marion, and Hendricks counties, through our ministry partners like SENSE Charter School, Family Promise of Hendricks County, CLC Outreach, and others.

Now, even though it’s still [very!] warm, we’re collecting in advance of the upcoming cold months. We are looking for new or very gently used, sturdy and easy-to-clean, items. As you choose what to purchase or look through your closets for these items, imagine if you were outside a lot in the cold, or in a house with little to no heat--what would you want? And items in new or very good condition give the recipient a better sense of care and consideration. Here are some examples of what our ministry partners are looking for.

Colder weather clothing: Children and adults, across a broad range of ages and sizes. Needs include durable, practical, and easily-cleaned clothes and outerwear, especially coats, sweatshirts/hoodies, sweaters, gloves, and hats. (Not items like thin sweaters, or tshirts.)

Bedding and “cover-ups:” Blankets, sleeping bags, and heavy/thick throws that also are durable, practical, and easy to clean. Some of those we serve are in transitional housing or don’t have beds, so they need items that are easily stored and transported.

We thank our CLC family for their generosity every month! You are so appreciated!
